If I'm the reason

We unraveled in quiet ways.
Hurt echoed in the midst of silence.
Then grew louder with distance.
You questioned what you couldn’t control,
held tight when you should've let go.
One paused their purpose to calm the chaos.

“You know you always skip over your part in this.”
No, you just hate that your actions left a trail.
Clear enough to admit I hurt you too.
Dismissed your feelings because you let your insecurities dent our trust.
Believed the words of people who wanted your place
and not the truth standing in your face.
Too young for the weight, we parted and filled voids,
yet ran back to our saving grace.
